If anyone can figure out what's wrong I'd really appreciate it.

fan probably going bad. The a/c fan on my Audi (electric) kinda made a sound like that
Since the engine is sideways, not much rotational stuff in that area besides the fan(s)

that area that you were pointing at goes down to the transmission. do you notice it getting harder to shift? if not that noise is probably normal. dual mass flywheels and all.

Because of that area:
1. cycle the a/c on then off (eliminate a/c stuff)
2. have someone depress the clutch (eliminate throw out bearing)
3. with a/c off, wait till the cooling fan cycles (eliminate bad fan)
Head to Harbor Freight and get a $2 stethoscope and start pointing it at things :]

It disappeared when I depressed the clutch. And it's been shifting badly.
